If, after my first busy season, I had suspected I might still be around for #4, I would have quit immediately and moved to a little town in Iowa with 500 people and a few cows. Or maybe Figi.
I hardly ever post on this separate blog, but today I'm just trying to voice to the universe that I am tired. I'm working less this busy season than I did in any of the first three, and yet it's harder than ever for me to maintain a good attitude. Maybe I'm ready for a cushy 9 to 5....although I suppose that thought has crossed my mind every March for the past 4 years.

It's Final
On Monday, I'm issuing my last set of financial statements of a round of non-stop engagements since January. I am going to celebrate by going home at five every single night in August. I may even drag my butt back to the gym two or three evenings a week.
More good news: I scored a stellar organizational system specific to what I do from one of my bosses. I think it's going to make my next busy season (which will hopefully end long before July 28th) go much smoother. There's a certain promotion that usually takes three busy seasons to land. If I do a stellar job next busy season, I might get it after two.....why, you ask, would this be a good thing? It all has to do with the grand scheme of baby-planning.....

Kindle
I really want a Kindle from Amazon.
At the same time, I find the presence of real books in my home physically comforting. Is that old-fashioned?
Decisions, decisions......I spend this much on books probably every 24 months or so, so the price isn't a question. It would pay for itself. If I stopped by real books that is.
Anyone have one? What do you think? Can I be just as happy having read a book if I can't leave it sitting on my bookshelf afterward?

Why I Hate Working With Tax People
Tax Staff Person: I'm working on the $1,135,000 tax problem and it is off by 90 cents! What should I do?
Me (Audit Senior Person): First of all, don't ever use the word "cents" in my presence again.
Tax Staff Person: Ok....but really, what should I do?

Memorial Day
When it is May 26th and one is still so busy at work that she must work on Memorial Day instead of taking the day off like a normal person....this is when, once again, one starts to hate her job and wonder why she is still working in this industry....
